OPG's Central Hydro Plant Group is offering a Summer Co-op or Developmental employment opportunity for an enthusiastic IT or Information Management student in our Support Services Department. This position is based in North Bay, Ontario. The Central Hydro Plant Group operates 26 small hydro stations and associated control structures across Central Ontario with service centres located in North Bay, Coniston, Gravenhurst and Campbellford.


As the successful candidates you may have the opportunity to assist in a variety of activities, which may include the following:
  • Assisting in web-site development
  • Assisting in the development of instructions, lesson plans and tool-kits related to IT
  • Working as a team member to provide solutions to telecommunication advancements
  • Providing IT support to staff
  • Assisting to progress the migration of Information Systems to a Microsoft Sharepoint platform
  • Willingness to travel for day-trips, and possible overnight trips, as required.

Please note, this position is based out of our Central Hydro Plant Group headquarters in North Bay, Ontario.
We are searching for an enthusiastic (Information Technology (IT) and Information Systems Support student prefered), who has successfully completed a minimum of second year and will be returning to university or college (full-time) upon completion of this work term, or require one final work term to graduate.

Preference will be given to candidates with the following skills and knowledge:
  • Exceptional computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Access)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Infopath would be an asset
  • Experience in webpage design and maintenance
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of MS Sharepoint
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Ability to work without close supervision and a willingness to learn
